A new co-operation has been announced by the CMA CGM Group with current partner Maersk Line, APL and OOCL, on three existing Far East-to-Indian Subcontinent services (CIMEX 2/FM3, CIX, CIX3), starting in February 2014.
In a Slot Sharing Agreement that also includes partners such as Emirates Shipping Line, Hamburg Süd and Regional Container Lines, 18 vessels with an average weekly capacity of about 17,500 TEU’s will be deployed on the three Far East-Indian Subcontinent services.
This enhanced network is hoped to enable the Group to offer three sailings per week – which will cover Korea, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan – in comparison to the one weekly sailing that is currently offered by each liner.
A spokesperson from the France-headquartered CMA CGM Group said of the development: “The multi-carrier co-operation will provide more frequent sailings between Asia’s major hubs, and will definitely minimise routes duplication on this trade.”
The enhanced Far East-Indian Subcontinent services, intended to provide improved operational efficiency and a more consistent service set up, will enable the CMA CGM Group to offer fast transit times with flexible and competitive options.
